I've been thinking a lot about the future lately. Being a full time touring songwriter isn't getting easier. I'm not the first musician to say that for small artists the music industry feels like its on life support, and others have articulated the issues a lot more eloquently than I ever could. Every part of making a living from music has changed over the past 10 years ... I keep on keeping on, but don't let all the positive posts and photos mislead you into thinking doing this is easy. I've seen massive declines in merchandise sales, even on tour, and venues aren't paying more while expenses are all up.Part of how I now generate my income is through a service called Patreon.
